Recently laid off from her job and suffering from Ms and asthma, Jerri Voss faces a lot of tough issues. After she lost her job in OH a few months ago, she lost her medical insurance, also, and some of her drugs cost a bundle.

“Having to pick between meals, house payments, and the light bill, I at times don’t choose my prescription medication,” the 29 -year-old whispered. She can’t be skipping her medicines as it leaves her out of breath and light headed.

After contacting an independent prescription assistance company, she is fully on her road to getting the prescription drug help that she wants. The recession and the political debate over health care change have caused many of the drug companies to relax their program procedure.
Similar to most drug companies Merck for example, operates a prescription assistance program that offers prescription medicine, for free, to persons who qualify. The individual must have no medical Insurance or your healthcare insurance coverage is lacking. A few months in the past Merck increased the income guidelines from 200 percent of the federal poverty level to 400 percent.

Two other companies, Pfizer Inc. and AstraZeneca P.L.C., a short time ago announced they would slacken their guidelines and allow unemployed citizens to sign up, regardless of how much they used to make. They still need to present substantiation that they are not working.

Red tape remains a chief problem, however, because several persons need medication from quite a few companies and each company has their own forms that you must fill out. It’s often a hard process and each pharmaceutical company is a little different. As a rule companies call for the doctor of medicine to join in the process and largely still require substantiation of wages. Denials for not finishing the form in the approved manner are not rare.

The Partnership for Prescription Assistance, an industry-sponsored group, says it has helped over 5  million people over the preceding five  years discover programs that assist citizens without healthcare insurance obtain their drugs for free.
At the moment, she uses several different methods to obtain the help with prescriptions that she wants. She buys three  of the generic medicines she needs at Sam’s club for $4 each, per month and   of the especially high-priced brand name prescription medicine she gets for free directly from the drug company.

She is still looking for work and says “I’ll take on anything”. The most recent time she worked was in the installation department for the utility company. However, she is delighted to have some help.”I am out of a job and I have no healthcare insurance” she said. “Being able to acquire help with prescription medicine is great.”
