I need to show proof of my renters insurance policy. Will the Renters Insurance policy show my name and address that is covered similar to a home or Auto Insurance policy? They are actually asking for a home insurance policy for a job but would renters Insurance policy be similar since I rent and don’t own?

Yes, for this purpose, it’s the same thing.

But I am puzzled as to why an employer would want to see proof of insurance, either homeowners or renters. Why do they want this? Does this job require that you have coworkers or clients in your home?

Perhaps it’s perfectly above board. But, not knowing the details, I’m suspicious.

What is a good company to have Renters Insurance through, that is still pretty cheap?
I go through Geico on my Auto Insurance and they are very expensive for anything other than Auto insurance.

Renters insurance, well, there’s not much competition for it. They’re all about the same – $150 a year will get you a decent policy with replacement cost and $20,000 of stuff, just about anywhere.

The FIRST place to look is the same place that has your Car Insurance, because even if it’s $50 more than everyone else, if it saves you 10% or 20% off your car insurance with a "package discount", it’s still cheaper.

After that, any A rated, admitted carrier is going to be fine. Check with a local, independent agent.
