Author: I am in a weekend-only program at my job. My employer does offer STDI, but not to employees in this program. I can’t even take a payroll deduction and pay for it myself. I am having a tough time finding an Insurance company that will offer STD to me as an individual.
Have you used a reputable company that you could recommend?
Aflac replied that they only do payroll deduction at this time….
Check with AFLAC. They offer short term disability which you can purchase individually. You can check this website to read about the different products and to find a local agent that represents them http://www.aflac.com/individuals/default.aspx.

AFLAC does not offer short term disability insurance to individuals. You have to do it through payroll deduction.
