Life insurance, or life assurance, provides for the payment of an amount of money upon the death of the insured. Life insurance can also be used as a means of investment or saving. Here follows 6 keys to understanding life insurance.

1. How Whole Life Insurance Works.

A whole life insurance policy has two fundamentals. The mortality charge is the part of your premium that pays for the insurance coverage. The investment component that earns interest is the second part.

Life insurance companies traditionally invest insurance premiums in bonds, stocks and real estate in order to generate raises in cash value for policyholders. Policyholders have no input into the investment process in a whole life insurance policy.

Life insurance companies may also credit the investment component with an annual dividend depending on the insurer’s loss experience and investment performance.

2. How Term Life Insurance Works.

Life insurance that stays in effect for only a specified and limited time. If the insured person dies within that time the beneficiary receives the death payments. If the insured person survives, then the policy ends and the beneficiary receives nothing. Once the policy has expired, it is up to the policy owner to decide whether to renew the term life insurance policy or to let the coverage end.

3. Benefits of whole life insurance over other types of Life Insurance.

* Savings are tax-deferred.
* Your premium will remain constant during the duration of coverage.
* A portion of your premium goes toward the policy’s cash value.

4. Disadvantages of whole life insurance.

* Fixed premiums are more expensive than term premiums.
* Insurance salespeople may push these policies because of bigger commissions.
* It is a less attractive investment than other investment options.

5. Reviewing risk and lifestyle.

Insurance companies automatically divide people into two groups: smokers and nonsmokers. Within these two groups each person is broken down into one of three risk categories. The premium varies drastically depending on a person’s category.

If you have a parent or sibling who had cancer or a heart attack before the age of 60 you might pay more due to his or her poor health. Statistically, you are more likely to die from one of these ailments than someone who has no family history of heart disease or cancer.

Insurance companies are just as interested in mental health as physical health. It could cost you if you are on an antidepressant. The insurance company worries that if you are depressed you may eventually take your life.

Insurance companies also worry that people with bad credit or a bankruptcy in their past might not pay their insurance premiums.

Insurance companies also care what you do in your spare time. Anything that is considered to be an extreme sport will force you to pay a higher premium. High risk hobbies may include mountain climbing, bike racing, scuba diving and flying a small plane. Check an Insurer’s Ratings

6. Check an Insurer’s Ratings.

The financial security of the insurer is of vital concern. Information on the credit worthiness of an Insurance company is easy to obtain. Reports are cheap or free over the Internet. Go with an insurer rated A or better.

Is my life even worth living, or should I kill myself?
I have been considering do this for some time now but, never did because I felt like if I could still think about my future/dream life then I wasn’t ready to die. This year however has changed everything. In the beginning of the year I got into a fist fight with my mother. Then my grandmother had a stroke right before the summer, because her and my grandfather pretty much raised me I took it on as my responsibility to take care of them. Since I was only 19 and home from college with no job there was only so much I could do. But I took care of the house, my grandfather, paid the bills for him(he didn’t even know how to write out a money order). My father and his two sisters lived in 3 different states and not once did they come to help me or their parents. My grandfather was in and out of the hospital all summer. This put a lot of pressure and stress on me. Me and other friends and neighbors encouraged him to assign a power of attorney and write a will in case anything happened. He kept putting it off then in November my grandmother passed away. The very next day my grandfather mental state went out the window. After hearing the news one of my aunts first thoughts was to call the insurance company and get information on my grams life insurance policy. She came in my home demanding keys to the house(my grandparents never gave their children keys because they’re all thieves) I refused to give her a copy of anything. They excluded me from most of the planning of the funeral and stole pictures of my grandmother and me together. A week after her funeral they showed up to my home with the cops and had me evicted from my life long home. even though my grandfather owns the home with him not being in his right mind he could not object. I went to court to fight it I lost and the judge told me I could go pick up my stuff but that was it. I went back to the house to get my things and one of those things was my 16month old shih-tzu Sally Skellington but, she was gone my father had took her to NY. I have been calling the cops, the courts, and lawyers, trying to get her back and nobody seems to be able to help me. I only left her at the house because I didn’t know where I was going to be staying and she had fleas., so thought she would be safe there. He plans to breed her and the small breeds have high health risk when you breed them. I made a terrible mistake and lost the only thing I had as a physical reminder of my grandparents. I’ve been blackballed in my family on 2 or 3 people will even speak to me because of the lies my aunt and father told everyone. I can barely get up in the morning and I just want to be over. I lost my grandmother, my grandfather(mentally), my dog, my only real home. I just want it all to be over. I was taking classes online but after the new year I won’t be able to afford my internet anymore or my cell phone. My friends don’t understand any of this, nor do the family members that still do talk to me therefore none of them can really help. I know people say suicide is never the way to deal with a problem but, I can’t think of anything else. I feel completely like trash like I’ve been tossed away by everybody that I thought cared about me.

Whatever you do, do not kill yourself. If you really, truley want a solution to your problems, I can give you one, but its up to you to take the offer. The only thing I can offer you is God. He is the only one that can understand you and help you. Even when all family have given you their back, he is waiting for you to turn to Him for help. God bless you, and trust me, if you trust God and put your life in His hands, He will help you through.

You are NOT trash… most 19 y/o dont have as much maturity as you do… Everyone goes through tough difficult times in their life that seem like a hell that will never go away… You have to continue to be strong, because you know what? Even though you dont think you are, YOU ARE STRONG, it takes a strong woman to do what you’ve done… think about that, you seem to have a very caring and nurturing side to you and not everyone can say that about themselves… I wish you the best of luck and remember that you are WORTH a lot. Dont let the small things bring you down, remember somewhere out there is someone who doesnt have a meak at night or a place to sleep remind yourself that as long as you have health and yourself you are BLESSED… wish u the best of luck

You shouldn’t think about killing yourself. I think that God is going to call you whenever he wants you in heaven. I think its not your time to die yet. Don’t ever look forward in dying. I believe that there is a reason for everything. You are a fighter and you should try to keep on living. There is a always a solution for everything and suicide is not a solution.

You have been strong all this time, strong when your grandparents needed you. Don’t let what you did for them be in vain. Karma is a motherfu*ker and your relatives who sat on their butts and didn’t do anything until your grandmother died will get theirs on earth and in death. Don’t let the actions and cruelty of others take your shine. You are just going through a tough time emotionally because it is the holidays and the people who mattered most are not there with you. Don’t let a$$holes dictate the end of you, don’t let them be the final say so on how you conduct the rest of your life. I know your grandmother is turning over in her grave with these thoughts you are having. The best way to show them is to keep on keeping on. You have been through the worst already, keep faith no matter what and you will make it.

sorry to say that sounds like a country song but dont get upset shit like this happens to everyone some even worse just look at the majority of this earth that dont know where there next meal is coming from, one thing you gotta do is cut all ties with your hateful family leave that shit behind because everytime you see them you ll get down, find a man if you dont already have one try and find a job or a new place to live.your gonna be depressed and you have every reason to be so but if you live for the rest of your life and be depressed but have one brilliant day then lifes worth living killing yourself is all you can think of i know but think of the good and dont drink for a while to beat depression cause if you are even thinking of it your more likely to do something stupid when your drunk, instead of killing yourself why not sign up to be sent over seas to help the poor that way you live plus your gonna help people
